Review: Woodford Reserve

The Woodford Reserve brand was introduced in 1996. Woodford Reserve is a brand of premium small batch Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey produced in Woodford County, Kentucky, by the Brown-Forman Corporation. The mashbill for Woodford Reserve features a high percentage of rye: 72% corn, 18% rye and 10% malt. Unusual also for being triple distilled and having the lowest proof upon entering the barrel where it matures for at least six years.

Chris' Opinion: This is in my top 3 favorite bourbon's. This is one of those go to drams where you know exactly what you're going to get each and every time. On a cool day, this is gonna warm you up really nice! The nose on this is fantastic! Initially vanilla cream and honey are all in the face and over time if you come back and nose it again you can start to pick up the other elements. The taste is full and coats your tongue nicely, and like most bourbon's, it has a seemingly long finish with a slow build up of spices. Overall, its a must to have in your collection!

Dan's Opinion: WoodFord Reserve makes a great product, This was my bourbon awakening, It set me on a path of discovery, it was just recently during our halloween pod cast I revisited this bourbon after a several month hiatus, and was reacquainted this underrated bourbon.

This hit the soul, it is warm and spicy, a great drink on a cold day.
